Vacation Spending
When planning that special vacation getaway this year, keep in mind your bills will be there to greet you when you arrive home again. CCCS suggests the following tips to avoid overspending on your vacation.
As soon as possible, look at your budget. This will help you know how much money you have available for travel. Research vacation offers. Visit the library and check out travel guides. Or, do some research through the Internet. Decide what aspects of the vacation are really important to your family, and pay extra for them. Cut corners on items of lesser priority.
Set up a special vacation fund. By putting away some money each week, you will be able to fund the majority of your vacation with savings. Taking along a credit card makes good sense. However, use credit cards carefully and plan to pay off the balances accumulated by your vacation within three months.
